Jim Holmberg

Jim graduated from the U of A in 1967 with BA's in Economics and Geography and his MBA in 1968. He worked for United California Bank for two years in Los Angeles and Fresno. He joined the Arizona Bank in 1970 as a Commericial Loan Officer. He worked as a Commerical Loan Officer, managed two large branches, was the Southern Arizona Loan Supervisor and finally Regional Manager. He maintained those positions against all odds theough the Security Pacific Bank and Bank of America acquisitions. He was named Market President in 2002. He retired in 2004. Jim's United Way service began in 1971 when he was named to the Board of Information and Referral Service and joined the UW Allocations process. He was involved in UW Allocations through 1981 and was the Allocations Chair and a member of the UW Board in 1980 and 1981. He has been an uninterrupted donor to the UW since 1971. He remained active as a member of the Boards of Information and Referral and the American Red Cross. He has been a member of the Board of Mangers of the Downtown YMCA or Lohse Branch since 1974 and the YMCA Foundation Board since 2003 and is the current chair. Jim returned to the UW Board in 2001? and has served continuosly since. Jim served as a volunteer President of the UW during the four month period between Ed Parker's retirement and the hiring of Tony Penn.
