Philanthropic Funds

A philanthropic fund, also called a donor advised fund, offers individuals a method of giving without the costs of establishing a private foundation.

With a minimum gift of $2,500 donors or their designees make recommendations for gifts to qualified charities. Philanthropic funds may eventually become a permanent endowment, perpetuating annual campaign support or endowing other philanthropic interests.

This vehicle for giving is ideal for those who:
  • Write multiple checks to a variety of 501(c)(3) organizations throughout the year.

  • Want the convenience of writing one check and collecting one receipt for tax preparation.

  • Would enjoy the customer service that United Way offers in distributing funds on the donor's own timetable.

  • Would enjoy being recognized not only by United Way as a leadership donor, but by each organization that receives distributions.

By establishing a Philanthropic Gifts Fund, donors can make outright gifts to their special charitable interests. Through this program, donors fulfill their personal charitable goals while enhancing the dynamic and results-driven United Way system
