VITA Tax Preparer Training

1st Time Tax Preparer training is mandatory for all new volunteer Tax Preparers. Many returning volunteers opt to take this training as well. The training is designed to prepare new volunteers for the IRS certification exam by providing a basis of knowledge of tax law and the tax preparation software used in the VITA program. In between sessions participants have access to the software to practice on their own through online resources, and we encourage all new volunteers to attend the Open Lab Sessions for support while taking the IRS Certification exam.

This is a six-part course. Participants must attend all sessions to obtain all the information and be best-prepared for the certification exam. The full course schedule is detailed below.

Note: The specific buildings and room locations are still being finalized with our partners at the University of Arizona. We'll be in touch with updates as this process progresses.
