United Way Alternative Spring Break 2012
Make a difference during your Spring Break!
Are you looking for an opportunity to do something different and make a difference during your Spring Break? Children throughout the city of Tucson, Arizona are struggling to gain the knowledge and skills they need to enter school ready to succeed and they need YOUR HELP! The United Way is inviting YOU to travel to Tucson for Alternative Spring Break to join them as mentors, tutors and to support the children who need it most!
Get Involved!

As an ASB participant you will work directly with children in a variety of afterschool program settings. You will assist in the development and implementation of an educational, enriching and child-centered curriculum in a variety of programming areas. Activities will include:
- Helping children with homework
- Facilitating and participating in a variety of group games
- Arts & Crafts activities
- Developing and implementing a technology-based curriculum
- Leading activities in the "Imagination Station"
Additionally, you will get the chance to participate in other service projects (inside & outside) aimed at increasing the capacity of community -based agencies throughout Tucson.

We will be offering ASB programs each of the 4 weeks in March! (The program runs from Sunday to Saturday each week)
The $275 program fee covers lodging, food, t-shirts, all on the ground transportation once you arrive in Tucson and an amazing volunteer experience! This fee also includes access to a really cool online funraising tool call FirstGiving. This is a great way to ask family and friends to help support your trip through tax-deductible donations.
Volunteers will work directly with children at the Boys & Girls Club by developing and implementing a fun, educational and child-centered curriculum. Additionaly, volunteers will work alongside Boys & Girls Club staff to increase the capacity of their facility. United Way's Alternative Spring Break (ASB) will take place in Tucson during the weeks of March 4, March 11, March 18 and March 25, 2012.
