Last year more than 700 influential business and community leaders attended Women United’s annual Business Breakfast and helped to raise $113,755 for early childhood literacy. Women United combines the financial power and collective talents of local philanthropic women leaders to address early childhood literacy in our community. Children who read proficiently by the end of third grade are more likely to succeed academically and graduate from high school prepared for college and careers. 1 in 4 children in Pima County are not reaching this crucial benchmark.
Each year during the Business Breakfast two Literacy Champions are awarded for their success in literacy education.
