Is my United Way contribution tax deductible?

Yes, if you itemize deductions on your federal tax return, you may claim a deduction for your contribution to United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, which is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. United Way will provide you with a receipt (required by the IRS) for any donation of $250 or more. United Way does not provide a tax receipt for payroll deduction donations, your final pay stub should have your payroll deduction donation information.  Additionally, Arizona offers a tax credit of up to $400 for individuals, and up to $800 for married couples for gifts to Qualifying Charitable Organizations. Gifts to United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona’s Helping the Working Poor Fund qualify for this credit. Enter Umbrella Organization Code 20726 on your state tax return.
